FIAT PROFESSIONAL DOUBLE AT 2013 VAN FLEET WORLD HONOURS

Fiat Professional's award-winning range is celebrating further success following the announcement of the winners in the 2013 Van Fleet World Honours. Its widely-acclaimed Doblò Cargo was named Best Small Van, while the versatile Fiorino took the Best Light Van award in today's (21 May) special ceremony held at the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall, London.

The awards are presented annually to those motor manufacturers, service companies and individuals who have, in the opinion of the judges, achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their sector.

Best Small Van - Fiat Doblò Cargo

Fiat Professional's Doblò Cargo is the first LCV to have a bi-link rear suspension which ensures a smooth ride, lower loading height and better width between wheelarches. Additionally, the bi-link suspension permits a rear axle load up to 1,450kg.

The Doblò Cargo sits on an all-new platform which makes it a class leader in all the areas that matter most to professional drivers. It has great carrying capacity in both weight and size terms: up to 1 ton payload and up to 5.0 m3 volume.

Van Fleet World Editor, John Kendall, said: "Having already scooped International Van of the Year, Fiat's Doblò Cargo has established its credentials in the LCV world. Low fuel consumption and emissions, the option of automated transmission, and a crew van option, means that there is a Doblò model to suit a much wider spread of customer requirements. Fiat has not simply sat back and picked up the awards with Doblò Cargo though, and has continued to add to the line-up, with the Work-Up pick-up model and the recently added XL long wheelbase high roof model. This gives Fiat Professional one of the broadest model offerings at this weight."

The award-winning load-carrier is available with a choice of five low emissions, Euro 5-specification engines, and comes in several different forms combining dimensions, trim levels, engines and body types - Cargo, Cargo Maxi, Cargo SX, Cargo Tecnico, Cargo Maxi SX, Cargo Maxi Tecnico, Combi, Combi Maxi, Platform Cab, Work Up, and XL - to offer solutions for a wide spectrum of commercial vehicle users.

The engine line-up comprises four MultiJet diesels - 1.3 (90bhp), 1.6 (105bhp), 1.6 Comfort-Matic (90bhp) and 2.0 (135bhp) and a 1.4-litre 16v 95bhp petrol unit, providing best in class fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

All these attributes make Doblò Cargo the most versatile, most efficient and best performing van in its class.

Best Light Van - Fiat Fiorino

For the second year in succession, Fiat Professional's versatile Fiorino has secured the Best Light Van Award.

Popular with businesses and fleets, Fiat Professional's Fiorino has a generous specification with up to 660 kg payload and 2.5 cubic metres load volume, which may be increased to 2.8 cubic metres in conjunction with the optional, folding passenger seat. Running costs and emissions are kept to an absolute minimum, thanks to Fiat's latest MultiJet II technology. The 75bhp 1.3-litre MultiJet II diesel has a Combined Cycle fuel consumption figure of 68.9mpg when fitted with the Comfort-matic gearbox.

Economical to run, agile in traffic, easy to park and inexpensive to repair, the Fiat Fiorino occupies a unique position in the small van segment, setting new standards of practicality, refinement and durability in the ultra-compact urban LCV market.

Commenting on Fiorino's success, John Kendall, said: "The Fiorino is a compact practical design offering a good payload and high load volume, particularly compared with the hatchback competition, which can offer only half the load volume, while Fiorino is far easier to load with rear asymmetric doors and side loading door options. The diesel offers low running costs and the inclusion of automated transmission is good for those using the Fiorino in stop/start traffic. It's easy to drive, has a comfortable cab and the folding passenger seat offers more space and a longer load floor if needed."

The Van Fleet World Honours awards are open to all motor manufacturers and the judging process combines the expert opinion of the Van Fleet World editorial team with the values provided by a number of leading leasing companies and fleet data providers.

The judging panel is chaired by John Kendall, editor of Van Fleet World, and includes Dan Gilkes and Ross Durkin from the Fleet World editorial team.

Sebastiano Fedrigo, director, Fiat Professional UK says: "We are delighted and proud to receive these prestigious awards for Doblò Cargo and Fiorino from the Van Fleet World judges.

"Both Doblò Cargo and Fiorino are widely-regarded throughout the industry and have firmly established themselves as class-leading products in their respective segments. These latest accolades provide further endorsement of the quality and strength of the award-winning Fiat Professional range."
